Stromatolites are one of the oldest fossils found on this planet. They are some of the first preservation of life: cyanobacteria. Dating back almost 4 billion years ago, stromatolites give us a window into what Earth was like at the beginning of life stage. There was less oxygen available, so it was pretty difficult for life to flourish. Found mostly in Australia, these sedimentary rocks contain the first building blocks to life. They metaphorically/metaphysically teach us about deep grounding and what it means to survive.
